On Saturday, 7th December 2024, Dewsbury Town Centre will come alive with the vibrant energy of young entrepreneurs as Savile Town Scouts, in partnership with The Arcade Pop Up and Making Sparks, host an Apprentice-Style Enterprise Challenge. This unique event will highlight the creativity, culture, and entrepreneurial spirit of our local Scouts, all while celebrating Dewsbury’s rich heritage.
A Community Celebration Led by Young Innovators
Over the past few weeks, our Scouts, aged 10–18, have worked tirelessly to prepare for this big day. Split into two teams, they’ve embraced the challenge of developing their own businesses under the guidance of professionals. Here’s what they’ve been working on:
- Desi Bites (Boys’ Team): Serving delicious South Asian-inspired street food, the boys have put their hearts into crafting bold and exciting flavours that reflect Dewsbury’s diverse culture.
- Savvy Girls (Girls’ Team): Combining Dewsbury’s textile heritage with creativity, the girls have designed unique products inspired by local traditions, alongside homemade bakes celebrating the town’s scouting legacy.
Both teams have not only created their products but also developed professional marketing campaigns, including promotional videos, to showcase their offerings.

More Than Just a Market Stall
This Enterprise Day isn’t just about running businesses—it’s about inspiring the local community and showing what young people can achieve. The two team have worked incredibly hard to develop their business skills while learning about their heritage and bringing the community together.
In addition to the Scout stalls, visitors can look forward to a variety of activities for the whole family:
